Happy Thanksgiving!
It has been a wonderful day, with family and friends, great food and laughter.
I love laughter, don't you?
The day started with lots of work in the kitchen, everyone helped with the peeling, chopping and preparation!!
Lots of wonderful dishes were created...
Thomas had turkey and gravy duty.
He is the master, I have never cooked a turkey and we have been together a long time.
I was fairly well organized and with everyone's help the cooking was finished quickly so I was able to turn my attention to what I enjoy more than the food....the tablescape.
The weather was beautiful, thus we decided (after a little convincing on my part) to eat on the back deck.
I put two tables together and covered them with a very large drop cloth,
I then layered on some burlap that I purchased for today.
My color scheme was white, ivory, brown and aqua, with a touch of silver.
I have these plates purchased from HomeGoods.
I used tea to slightly dye the doilies for layering.
I added my vintage milk glass plates.
I made the leaf garland out of an old book and grocery bags.
I simply cut the leaf shapes from the book and used an upholstery needle and twine to "sew" the leaves together, adding them to the paper bag stems with hot glue.
Instead of place cards, I made glittered letters in silver and aqua and added a bit of twine. This was a gift for everyone for their Christmas tree.
I also used my vintage mismatched silver...love it!!
I also alternated book pages and large doilies under the plates, layering white, ivory and teal.
I really loved it...
It was a near perfect day,
gorgeous sunshine
family
laughter
great food
blessings abounding.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
